Local Support & Resources
You don’t have to know exactly what kind of help you need before asking for support.
No Mum Alone is here to provide connection, community and practical support, but we are not a clinical mental health service. If you’re struggling with your mental health, feeling overwhelmed or simply don’t know where to turn, there are organisations and professionals who can help.
We’ve put together some trusted sources of support below. You can choose whatever feels like the right first step for you.
Services
We offer a range of specialized services tailored to meet your individual needs. Our approach is focused on understanding and responding to what you require, providing effective and practical solutions.
Your GP
Your GP can be a good first step if you’re worried about your mental health or struggling to cope. They can discuss what you’re experiencing and help you access appropriate NHS services.

NHS Talking Therapies
NHS Talking Therapies provides support for adults experiencing difficulties such as anxiety and depression. You can usually refer yourself without first seeing your GP.
For East Sussex, you can point people towards the local Health in Mind service, which is the NHS Talking Therapies provider referenced by Sussex NHS guidance.
Support During Pregnancy & After Having a Baby
Pregnancy and the period after having a baby can bring significant emotional changes. If you’re struggling during pregnancy or after having your baby, specialist support is available.
Support for Loneliness & Connection
Sometimes you don’t need a diagnosis or professional intervention—you might simply need someone to talk to, somewhere to go, or people who understand.
No Mum Alone is working towards creating welcoming community spaces where mums can meet, talk and build genuine connections.
If You Need Urgent Mental Health Support
If you need help right now
If you need urgent mental health help but you’re not in immediate danger, you can call NHS 111 and select the mental health option. NHS 111 is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
If you or someone else is in immediate danger
Call 999 or go to A&E.
If someone’s life is at risk, or you don’t feel you can keep yourself or someone else safe, NHS guidance recommends calling 999 or going to A&E. You will not be wasting anyone’s time.
Other Useful Resources
Samaritans
If you need someone to talk to, Samaritans can be contacted free on 116 123, 24 hours a day.
Sussex Mental Health Support
Sussex Partnership currently advises people in Sussex that they can call NHS 111 and select the mental health option, contact Samaritans, or text SUSSEX to 85258 for 24/7 mental health text support.
I’d make each of those a clickable link on your website rather than making someone copy information from the page.
A Message from No Mum Alone
You don’t have to have everything figured out.
Asking for help doesn’t mean you’re failing. Sometimes the hardest part is simply taking the first step.
Whether that step is speaking to your GP, contacting a professional service, calling someone you trust, or simply coming along to a No Mum Alone coffee morning when we’re ready to welcome you—we hope you remember that you don’t have to face everything alone.
Helping every mum feel seen, supported and never alone.
